That's my big beef with most touhou fan games. They stray so far from the canon it's almost unrecognizable as touhou, imo this is especially true for Aquastyle. Their art direction is so bizarre and picked out. Some characters follow canon to an extent, in both looks and personality while other are complete fan exaggerations. For example, Reimu, Marisa and Alice all look like they're 12 years old in Aquastyle art, where as Sanae and Sakuya look almost twice that age. Sakuya can get a sorta pass since her age is unknown and she looks older than the rest of our heroines in canon. Sanae on the other hand should not due to having a appearance and age similar to Reimu and Marisa in canon. I mean take a look at the pos by to the right and wall scroll on the left in the link below.
